THE GOVERNANCE

Dream Alive and Care Organization is governed through a clear structure that separates leadership, oversight and day-to-day management. This structure ensures that decisions serve the organisation's mission, resources are used responsibly and the rights and wellbeing of children remain at the centre of every programme.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors provides strategic oversight and safeguards the organisation's purpose. The Board sets the direction of the organisation, approves major policies, monitors performance and ensures that programmes remain aligned with its mission and values.

Management Team

The management team is responsible for implementing the organisation's strategy and running its programmes. Led by the Chief Executive Officer, the team translates Board decisions into practical action, manages staff, oversees partnerships and ensures that resources reach the children and communities for whom they are intended.

Programme Teams

Programme teams carry out the organisation's work in the field. They work directly with children, caregivers, teachers, schools and community structures to implement child sponsorship, sanitation and menstrual health, mentorship and mental health education, child protection and community resilience programmes.

Each team is responsible for understanding local needs, coordinating support, maintaining accurate records and ensuring that beneficiaries receive appropriate assistance. Programme staff also identify emerging risks, share feedback from communities and contribute evidence that informs programme improvement.

Finance and Accountability

The organisation manages its resources with care, transparency and accountability. Financial policies guide budgeting, procurement, expenditure, record-keeping, reporting and audit. Funds are allocated according to approved plans and used to advance the organisation's mission.

Financial reports are reviewed by management and presented to the Board. The organisation maintains internal controls to prevent misuse of resources, ensure accurate documentation and protect donor and partner funds. Independent audits and external reviews are used to strengthen accountability and improve financial management.

Safeguarding and Child Protection

Child safeguarding is central to the organisation's governance. Every staff member, volunteer, partner and representative is expected to uphold the highest standards of conduct when working with or around children.

The organisation maintains safeguarding policies, reporting procedures, recruitment checks and training to prevent harm. Concerns about abuse, neglect, exploitation or misconduct are treated seriously, handled confidentially and referred through appropriate channels. No child should ever be put at risk because of the organisation's work.

Policies and Standards

The organisation operates under clear policies that guide its work and protect the people it serves. These include policies on child safeguarding, data protection, finance, procurement, human resources, whistleblowing, conflict of interest, anti-corruption, gender equality, disability inclusion and environmental responsibility.

Policies are reviewed regularly and communicated to staff, volunteers, partners and relevant stakeholders. They provide a common standard for decision-making and help ensure that the organisation's actions match its values.

Partnerships and Accountability

The organisation works through partnerships with schools, caregivers, community leaders, government departments, civil society organisations and donors. Partnerships are built on mutual respect, clear roles, shared learning and accountability.

The organisation listens to the communities it serves and uses their feedback to improve programmes. It also reports honestly on what has been achieved, what challenges remain and how resources have been used. This openness strengthens trust and helps ensure that support continues to reach the children who need it most.

Learning and Improvement

Governance includes a commitment to learning. The organisation monitors attendance, retention, transitions, safeguarding, programme delivery and beneficiary feedback to understand what is working and what needs adjustment.

Lessons from the field inform programme design, budgeting and advocacy. When a programme does not achieve the intended result, the organisation reviews the reasons, adapts its approach and shares the learning with partners. This commitment to improvement helps ensure that the organisation remains effective, responsible and responsive.

Our Commitment

The organisation's governance exists to protect its mission, its resources and, above all, the children it serves. Through strong oversight, ethical leadership, transparent financial management and a firm commitment to safeguarding, the organisation works to ensure that every decision supports children's right to learn, grow and thrive.
