Community resilience and
Economic Stability
Children do not learn in isolation from the communities they live in. When a community is stable, children stay in school.
When it is not, they leave.
Drought, displacement, conflict, and economic shocks do not affect the child
alone. They affect the household, the school, the market, and the network of relationships that hold a community together.
Our work on community resilience addresses the conditions that keep children in school by strengthening the communities
around them. The work is organised around three connected areas.

programming
Community Based Projects
We support community-based projects that generate income and strengthen local livelihoods. The projects are designed and run by the communities themselves.
Peace Building
Addressing the Conditions that produce conflict. Conflict and insecurity push children out of school faster than almost anything else.
Supporting Children in Emergencies
Keeping Learning Going When Everything Else Stops. When a drought, a flood, or a sudden displacement hits a community, children are the most affected and the least able to recover on their own.
